Madison Set to Shine on Healthtech’s Biggest Stage

Madison Set to Shine on Healthtech’s Biggest Stage

MADISON, WI – Greater Madison’s reputation as the HealthTech Capitol will be on display at the 2018 HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition taking place March 5-9 in Las Vegas. The conference, which brings together more than 45,000 health IT professionals, clinicians, executives and vendors from around the world, will feature exhibits and pavilions from several top healthtech companies located in Madison.

With a robust healthcare ecosystem of world-class research; the market leader in electronic health records; and a strong network of payers and providers, manufacturers and entrepreneurs, Greater Madison has emerged as a leader in health innovation. In the shadow of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which consistently ranks among the top universities nationally for research spending and where the first human embryonic stem cell line was derived in 1998, there are three major hospitals, a strong network of insurers, cutting-edge biotech companies, device manufacturers and a diverse group of new and emerging companies.

“Greater Madison continues to gain momentum as the HealthTech Capitol, and we are showcasing our healthcare discoveries to the world,” said Chamber President Zach Brandon. “From new platforms to analytics to services, Greater Madison companies have a great story to tell at HIMSS. The time is now to capitalize on our region’s economic strength as we continue to seek solutions to global challenges surrounding health care.”

To local leaders and national experts alike, the convergence of industry strength, talent pipeline and entrepreneurial spirit shows Greater Madison is well-positioned for growth in healthtech. Forbes has called Madison one of “The Cities Winning the Battle for Information Jobs,” and in the past year, the Atlantic CouncilCBRE and Cushman & Wakefield have all recognized Madison as a national leader for momentum in tech job growth. The U.S. Department of Labor also ranks Madison second in the country for density of software publishing jobs, behind only Seattle, providing a surplus of tech-savvy talent to fuel the growing healthtech cluster.

Some recent achievements from Greater Madison companies attending HIMSS include:

  • Datica is announcing the next generation of its Platform on March 5 at HIMSS18. The new version extends Datica’s expertise on security and compliance to new and international compliance frameworks, while also increasing the number of technologies supported on the platform.

  • This year at HIMSS, healthfinch will be honored with an Innovation Award, presented by athenahealth, Inc. The award is presented to organizations who drive meaningful change in the healthcare IT space and offer solutions that can be adopted across different types of organizations, regardless of size.

In addition, ImageMover continues to quickly expand its client base and partners in the marketplace and is available in Epic’s App Orchard.
  • Moxe recently released its Convergence platform, the first fully end-to-end integrated solution for HCC data capture. Health plans automatically send information on HCC documentation-gaps, and physicians can close these gaps without ever having to leave their EHR workflows.

  • Among many other recent developments, Redox is nearing 200 healthcare organizations on its network with a team that now numbers more than 50 people.
