Tech and Biotech: Madison startups tackle hormone replacement, nerve cell repair and biometric ID

JangoBio says it is developing ways to reverse hormone imbalances tied to aging without the use of traditional hormone replacement therapy.

Using stem cell technology, JangoBio hopes to restore an individual’s regular hormone levels and, in doing so, delay the onset of diseases associated with aging, such as heart disease and dementia.

Another company, BrainXell, transforms stem cells into specialized types of neurons — brain and spinal cord cells. It says it will sell the cells to companies working on drugs to fight diseases such as Parkinson’s.
